Apple and Mozilla Update Browsers

Friday 12th March 2010

Apple and Mozilla have both updated their browsers today with a variety of security and stability patches.

Safari 4.0.5 fixes 16 security holes in the browser, the bulk of which are in the Webkit, rendering engine, which is also used by Google's Chrome browser.

The Windows version of the browser also includes updates for the ColorSync and ImageIO frameworks to stop attacks using maliciously crafted TIFF or BMP images.

Apple said that the update "is recommended for all Safari users"

The new software requires Macs running OS X 10.4.11, 10.5.8, or 10.6.1 or higher. On the PC side Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 is needed.
